Sample Preservation Solution

Intended Use
It is intended for the collection, inactivation, preservation/stabilization, and transport of unprocessed upper respiratory clinical specimens from individuals suspected of influenza A infection by their healthcare provider. Specimens collected with the Sample Preservation Solution can be stored and transported at 4 oC or at room temperature (20-25oC) for preservation of microbial nucleic acid until the sample is processed and used with compatible molecular diagnostic assays.
Mechanism of Preservation Solutions
Key components such as the Tris-HCl buffer stem, guanidinium isothiocyanate, and surfactants work synergistically to inactivate viruses (or pathogens) and nucleic acid degrading enzymes, thus stabilizing the nucleic acids to be detected within the sample. Moreover, increasing the sample concentration enhances the quality assurance of nucleic acid detection, guaranteeing reliable results.
Specimen Collection, Transport and Storage Procedure
Label the transport tube with patient and sample identification details, including the date of collection, as per protocol. Dispatch the specimen to the testing laboratory promptly. Sample Preservation Solution tubes can effectively preserve swab samples for up to 6 days when stored at temperatures between 4-25°C.
